Set Fire With The Latest College Trends!

“Good looks attracts the eyes and heart”

Suravi Jaisi, Priya Prasad & Dipakshi Goswami

Life isn’t perfect but looks can be!

Appearance plays a vital role in catching our charm and fancy and speaks volumes about who we are.

Dress code plays a vital role in adding glamour to one’s personality, bringing confidence and an elegant code of conduct in the eyes of the mass.

LET’S GET FORMAL FOR THE BUSY DAYS

We’ve all gone through those days when we are running late for class, had that job interview or needed to impress our dates on campus… and well, admit it or not, we’ve all been a little confused sometimes on how to pull off the formal look.

Formals has always been about following traditions and standards, blending in and also standing out subtly enough for everyone to glance in your direction twice.

Even if you are not into fashion, your face and body language help accentuate what you wear; so, a pinch of grace, confidence and attitude goes a long way in targeting the formal bull’s eye with the arrow of your attire.

Here are some tips to set the formal trend !

Men- Formal look for college

  • For masculine swans, an elegant look would be just fine. Khaki trousers along with a white to light shaded shirt is always a safe bet for those warm and sunny days on campus. Oh yes, be sure to also experiment with stripes, floral prints, checks and them tiny polka dots and don’t be scared to flaunt it!
  • For a more low-key semi-formal affair go for classic jeans and grab a shirt, preferably ranging from white to the dark navy shades. One can never go too wrong with denim on their side, this keeps things casual but also helps to give a smart look amongst the crowd.

Women- Formal look for college

  • Contrast with a capital C is game for women who want to flaunt their curves with pencil skirts and a simple tucked in shirt. Colours should ideally complement each other without looking too colourful or loud. Classy black pumps and a simple handbag are best used to give the complete look.
  • Ladies who are not skirt enthusiasts can simply go for the trousers ranging from shades of off white-to hazel-to black. A full sleeved tucked in top or light shirt would go well with these. If tight pants are also not your deal, loose khakis of checks or stripes can complement a smart body-hugging top well, along with an optional long shrug to bring the ‘let’s get down to business’ feel.

GET BOlD IN ETHNIC OR GO HOME

Subtle or bold, what’s your look?

Sumbul Khan

The beauty of the ethnic look is that one can never go too wrong with it at any point. A lot of people now prefer a more Indo-ethnic look to bring out a casual bohemian twist in their vibe.

Men- ethnic look for college

  • For a casual ethnic look, there’s a lot in store to grab a simple button up indie shirt. Pastel shades always look amazing on the Indian skin tone but of course, the indigo shades would also do wonders to stand out in the room. Cotton pants and jeans would do well as bottom wear choices.
  • Apart from indie shirts, a solid coloured kurta is best if one wants to highlight their figure line and height. Khaki pants complement the look best.

Women- ethnic look for college

• Luckily for ladies, the choices are |infinite in the ethnic look department and just about everything looks gorgeous, you name it! For shorter kurtas all jeans, khaki and salwars can be worn. Kurtas can be flared, straight or A-line. One can totally get creative with patterns, colours, layers, prints, texture and cut. If your unsure then simply buy a kurta set which would give you a perfect matching look on campus

• Apart from the kurta section, Anarkalis are also big in fashion now! Tights are best complemented with the long elegant gowns and are perfect for just about any occasion in college.

Above everything, street style is more about you than any trend or clothing standards. It’s also difficult to define because it incorporates so many different and experimental looks which is associated with the youth culture as well as all the major urban centres. Hence, it would be difficult to lay down all the styles but here are some simple suggestions for the college look…

Men casuals

Rajdeep Pal
Zidane Ghosh
  • For a plain and classy look one can go for black jeans along with a clean white t-shirt. you can also incorporate the use of a plain denim jacket or a checked button up shirt for layering on cooler days.
  • For a more unique look you can go for checked or stripped pants along with a light-coloured t-shirt. Ideally one can get the complete look with white sneakers and a classy hand watch.

Women Casuals

Somya Das
  • Jeans or a skirt with a tucked in t-shirt or a v-neck top is great for a simple and casual look.

From the streets of LA to Wembley Stadium!

At the 62nd Grammy Award’s Red carpet.

Korean pop is not just popular in the home soil but around the entire world!  K-pop is basically a musical genre that consists of an assortment of other genres such as electronic, hip-hop, rock and R&B music. Thanks to the internet, especially YouTube, K-pop has gained acclaim and an enormous fan following from people across the globe and still continues to rise in popularity on the global stage. Music does not require an understanding of the language that it speaks. Music is said to be a universal language for all. It can be used to communicate across cultural and linguistic boundaries . Hence, the ability to understand or speak Korean is not a prerequisite for listening to K-pop, which is evidenced by the numerous fans it has around the world.

An example of this cultural phenomenon is BTS or Bangtan Sonyeondan, a seven member group comprising of RM, Jin, Suga, J-Hope, Jimin, V and Jungkook, under Big Hit Entertainment. Their musical style has evolved to include a wide range of genres. Their lyrics, often focused on personal and social commentary, touch on the themes of mental health, troubles of school-age youth, loss, the journey towards loving oneself, and individualism. BTS are also influenced by many literary, psychological, artistic, and philosophical mediums. Their album Wings (2016) was inspired by Hermann Hesse’s coming of age novel, Demian. Their 2019 album Map of the Soul: Persona gains its name from Murray Stein’s Jung’s Map of the Soul: An Introduction.

BTS performing Black Swan at The Late Late Show with James Corden.

Starting from handing out flyers for their free concert on the streets of LA, attended by 200, to selling out the Wembley stadium twice, BTS has clearly show what hard work and dedication can bring. The album ‘Most Beautiful Moment in Life’ is their first album to debut in the Billboard 200 at no 171. BTS topped the Billboard Social 50 Charts for the first time in 2016. 2017 saw a peak in their career receiving the Top Social Artist Award at the Billboard Music Awards and being the first Korean act to perform at the American Music Awards. In 2018 their album Love Yourself: Tear debuted at No 1 on the Billboard 200 becoming the first k-pop album to top the US albums chart, followed by Love Yourself: Answer. They were also the first Korean act to perform at the Billboard Music Awards. BTS had been chosen as one of Time Magazine’s “Next Generation Leaders” and becoming the first k-pop group to grace the cover of ‘Time’ magazine. BTS became the first k-pop group to speak in front of the United Nations for the upcoming UNICEF program, in an effort to empower the young people.

Collaboration stage of Old Town Road at the 62nd Grammy Awards.

2019 started with the group releasing the album “Map of the Soul: Persona”, their third No 1 album at the Billboard 200, with its lead single Boy With Luv breaking highest 24 hours in YouTube history. They made history at the Grammy Awards being the first k-pop group to present the award for R&B Album of the Year. They also won Top Duo/Group and Top Social  Artist Awards, three times in a row, at the Billboard Music Awards. They are the first Korean act to headline a stadium tour in the US, ‘Speak Yourself’ Tour grossing $196.4 Million, selling Wembley Stadium, in London, in just 90 minutes after tickets sales opened. In the beginning of 2020 the group announced their comeback album Map of the Soul: 7, the most anticipated upcoming album. BTS made history by being the first Korean act to perform at the 62nd Grammy Awards, performing a collaboration stage with Lil Naz X, Billy Ray Cyrus, Mason Ramsey, Diplo and Nas.

BTS is not just limited to K pop now, they have broken stereotypes and explored beyond the horizon. They showed us how a South Korean group dominated over an entirely English speaking American market even after singing and speaking in a completely different language, which is a proof of how music transcends the barriers of language and race, and with the most dedicated fanbase the BTS ARMY they are here for World Domination!

We a group of BTS ARMYs have prepared a fun video for you! Watch us play “GUESS THE BTS SONG” :

Secrets of a Relationship!

“A relationship is an intricately woven bond to always stay together”

We live in a postmodern society today, where the definition of love, sex, dating and commitment are not defined by the same expressions of truth. We are the idols of urbanization and digitalization who are free, independent and daring; open to experimentation and free from the burdens of tradition.

Or are we the victims? Technology has offered us plenty of options to find love. Yet research has shown that even in a society as heterogeneous as ours, finding genuine connections has become more challenging and tiresome in today’s era. Many have argued that the sphere of technology has limited our emotional attention and has resulted in a pleasure-seeking generation which is ignorant to true intimacy and interest in their partner.

Others point to the fact that living in a fast-paced urbanized culture where stress, career, money or concentration on highly skilled industries does not allow space for ‘slow romances.’ While one’s social media may be flooded on quotes of love, peace and fulfillment, that very same person may come back home tired after a long day of corporate work feeling lonely and wanting some real warmth even after just receiving a thousand likes on their post.

So where does this problem start and where does it end? And from which corner does one begin to address such a layered and diverse issue and how does this phenomena affect marriages?

With the conventional meaning of ‘ true love’ fading, what will be the message we pass on to the next generation?

We are moving towards a revolution, but are we embracing it or are we still confused?

Let’s watch the interviews to find out more!

Here are some of the secrets to a healthy relationship:

  1. Work on forming an emotional connection with each other, strengthen open & honest communication.
  2. Love yourself and be comfortable with who you are.
  3. Stop being scared of fights and (Respectful) disagreements since they are the path to further clarity between partners.
  4. Keep your outside connections and activities always alive, don’t cling to your partner This helps in achieving a balance and having a world outside of your partner would actually help in complimenting a romantic spark.
  5. Be deeply interested in him/her, not just the idea of having a romantic partner.
  6. Be honest to each other about topics which may be uncomfortable because it builds trust. This could make or break a relationship.
  7. Try to understand your partners flaws, don’t just try to control or change them.
  8. Respect each others opinions and boundaries, a little compromise on both ends is also key.
  9. Be your partners support and guide.
  10. Lastly, appreciate and love your partner for all their flaws and amazing qualities!

Relationship is not only about sharing a connection between a man and a women but it is beyond that, they can be better or bitter. Sometimes it’s too difficult to understand and sometimes it is easily understood through our words and actions.

Thank you!!!
